1909 was an exceptional year for British design heritage; 1909 was the year that both Selfridges and Morgan Motors were established. To celebrate this shared history, the two iconic brands have teamed up to create a bespoke, limited edition Morgan car.
The EV3 UK 1909 Selfridges Edition combines Selfridges’ passion for sustainability and exemplary fashion design, with Morgan Motors’ legendary engineering and quintessential British aesthetic. This, coupled with the specially-made accompanying accessories from 9 top British designers, makes for one of the most exciting collaborations London Morgan has seen.
To celebrate how truly unique these two brands are, a limited edition of the EV3 has been created: the world’s first zero emission, all-electric 3-wheeler car. A true collectors item, the EV3 UK 1909 Selfridges Edition is a piece of art; as desirably beautiful as it is practical and comfortable, the car performs exquisitely – as evidenced by its speed and carbon neutral credentials. With only 19 of this bespoke edition ever to be made, this homage to the history of the brands’ along with a nod to their exciting future will take pride of place in any car enthusiast’s collection.
The design of the limited edition EV3 is at once retro and futuristic, both classic and innovative. Inspiration has been taken from the 1930’s aero engine race cars, as can be seen by the elegant bullet-body and exposed wheel design. With a top speed of around 90 miles an hour and an expected autonomy of between 120-150 miles depending on drive cycle, the EV3 #UK1909 Selfridges Edition is a true pleasure to drive. The brass conductive cooling fins encase the batteries, with four large and exceptional circular headlights enhancing the bold, handsome facade. This bespoke edition for the Selfridges’ collaboration showcases an understated black casing with luxurious bronze detailing reminiscent of Selfridges’ Oxford Street store and it’s iconic name plaque.
Last seen in the late 1920’s Morgan 3-wheeler race cars, we have reintroduced the striking tail lift for this prestigious event. Low slung running lights follow the cylindrical side pods’ form and a bespoke, never before seen dashboard arrangement strikes a classic chord, featuring a ‘magneto’ switch for driving selection accompanied by a digital screen. In true Morgan fashion, no minute detail has been overlooked, and every inch has been painstakingly designed and crafted. Each of the limited edition cars will be numbered 1 to 19, so the owner will have an entirely unique, one-off piece of history.
Nine British designer brands have been enlisted to take part in this celebration of British artisan heritage. The accessories are available to the 19 owners of the EV3 #UK1909 Selfridges Edition. Iconic brands such as Belstaff, Alexander McQueen, and Linda Farrow have each designed a bespoke accessory for the car before searching for truly special British-based artisans to manufacture the impeccable pieces. In true Morgan fashion, every item linked to this collection has been handmade within the UK.
